Freee Water CIC: Free Water for Everyone, Funded by Brands, Built for Britain

// NO DESCRIPTION DATA
Across the UK, the cost of living crisis has made everyday essentials feel like luxuries. People are cutting back on basics, and even something as simple as buying a bottle of water on the go can feel like an unnecessary expense. That might sound small, but in a country where families are choosing between bills, food, and daily necessities, “small” adds up fast.
Freee Water Community Interest Company exists to remove that burden. We are a UK registered Community Interest Company (CIC) built on a simple idea: clean drinking water should be easy to access, and no one should have to think twice about staying hydrated.
The problem we are solving
Hydration is a basic need, not a premium product. Yet the reality in many UK cities is that water is either overpriced, locked behind a shop counter, or only available if you already have the money to spare. When budgets get squeezed, people skip what they can. Sometimes that includes water.
This affects everyone, but hits hardest for:
- Families already under financial pressure
- Children and young people out all day with limited options
- Elderly people who need consistent hydration for health
- Anyone who works or travels long hours without easy access to refill points
The result is a quiet, unnecessary inequality around something that should be universal.
Our solution: brands fund the water, people get it free
Freee Water makes water free at the point of use by flipping the usual model. Instead of charging the public, we fund production and distribution through brand advertising on the packaging.
That means:
- Brands advertise on cartons and reusable bottles.
- Their sponsorship pays for the water and operations.
- The public receives water completely free.
No gimmicks, no “download an app first,” no awkward catch. It is just free water, where people need it.
What we distribute
We focus on two formats designed for real-world use and low environmental impact:
- Eco-friendly carton water
- Cartons are light, easy to distribute at scale, and give meaningful space for sponsors without adding plastic waste. We choose recyclable, responsibly lined cartons wherever possible.
- Reusable metal bottles
- These are designed for long-term use and future refill models, reducing single-use consumption over time.
We are serious about delivering hydration without trashing the planet to do it.
Where we start
Our first stage focuses on high-need, high-footfall locations like:
- City centres
- Public events
- Community gatherings
- Busy travel and commuting areas
- Outreach zones where access is limited
We are starting in London and expanding across the UK as capacity grows.
Community impact, done properly
Freee Water is a CIC, so community benefit is not a marketing line. It is legally baked into how we operate. Our goal is practical, visible impact: free hydration in public spaces for people who need it most.
As Freee Water grows and becomes profitable, a portion of surplus will support community food initiatives through the Feed and Flow Foundation. The Foundation is being built as an independent charitable entity focused on tackling hunger and food insecurity in the UK. That partnership is part of the long-term structure, and will scale as both organisations develop.
In plain english: water access now, wider food support as the system matures.
Why a CIC model matters
A CIC sits in the sweet spot between business efficiency and public benefit. It lets us:
- Move fast like a company
- Protect assets for community use through an asset lock
- Reinvest surpluses into impact
- Attract sponsors and partners without losing mission control
This isn’t a hobby project. It is a scalable social enterprise.
Transparency and trust
Charity and social enterprise only work when people believe the impact is real. We are building Freee Water to be transparent from day one. As operations roll out, we will publicly share:
- Distribution locations and volumes
- Funding sources and sponsor campaigns
- Community projects supported
- Annual CIC reporting and compliance
If people are backing this, they deserve receipts, not vibes.
How you can get involved
There are three ways to help Freee Water move faster:
1. Support the launch fundraiser
Our first GoFundMe run funds production of the initial carton batch and basic distribution setup. This is how we get the first water into people’s hands.
2. Brands can sponsor cartons
If you are a brand that wants meaningful visibility and real community impact, this is a clean win: your ad pays for hydration people actually use.
3. Volunteers and community partners
We will work with local volunteers and trusted organisations to distribute water responsibly and reach the right places.
The bigger picture
Freee Water is not just about handing out cartons. It is about creating a system where hydration is:
- Free to access
- Easy to distribute
- Environmentally responsible
- Funded sustainably
- Expandable into wider community support
This is a model that can grow across boroughs, cities, and eventually nationwide. It starts with the first run.
A country as developed as the UK should not have people going without clean drinking water because it costs too much to grab on the go. Freee Water CIC is here to change that, using a model that pays for itself and builds long-term community impact.
If you believe no one in Britain should struggle for food or hydration, you are already on our side. Now we are just building the machine to make it real.
